It was mid-afternoon. Christina eagerly eyed the clock…waiting to go home…She wanted to take a nice long nap. Sure she was tired, but that wasn’t the reason. The only way she could speak with the Time Guardian was through her dreams, and she needed…well, wanted- to find the last scout. They would be a team! Three new Sailor Scouts! She didn’t want to rival her heroine, Sailor Moon, and her team, but she hopped they would be better.
"…Christina! What’s the answer?"
"Er…34?" Hey, it was math class, so it was worth a try.
"The day isn’t over yet, and you haven’t heard a word of this lesson." Her classmates giggled. "I suggest you do page 784, the extra work for unit 7-5 and hand it in tomorrow."
She groaned. Extra work…that wasn’t fair. But soon enough, the bell rang, and before she knew it, Christina was at home asleep in her bed.
"Unity…"
"Yeah?" Christina saw herself- only dressed in fine lavender silk robes- walking across the clouds to the sound of the voice.
"Princess Unity…" She arrived at the Time Gate. The keeper stood there.
"I’m a princess?"
"Yes. The princesses of the past…of the Moon Kingdom are the Sailor Scouts today…Unity…"
"I understand."
"Unity…Destiny is waiting for you."
"My destiny?"
"No, Princess Destiny. She has not yet been awakened."
"Can’t Sailor Galaxy do that?"
"You must. She trusts you."
"You mean she’s..."
"Yes."
"Jessica! Sailor Destiny?"
"That’s correct. I am prepared to show you your past, but all of you must see it together. If you know, you will better understand yourselves. Find the girl…take the kind guardian, Tiki with you. He shall be of great help. I will speak with him in is dreams. Galaxy will not know, you must tell Destiny."
"Why is she so important?"
"She…she is the guardian of the future. I was training her to be so in the past, only things never worked out. When she is awakened, she will once more be able to defend the future and fate with her companions."
"Yes…"
Christina woke up. She didn’t need to bother with homework; she had already done it.
Being a Sailor Scout…was it a lifetime commitment? She had automatically been put to dedicate her life to this, whether she liked it or not. She hadn’t had to transform yesterday, but in a way, she was glad she had. If Destiny was the Keeper of Fate, what was she? She had to be important somehow.
‘Well, the sooner I get Jessica, the sooner I see the past,’ she thought, optimistically. ‘I’ll go to her tomorrow. Before we fight Ledite…she’ll be a great help to the team.’
So, as planned, Christina headed straight for Jessica after school. Normally, Christina went straight home from the back of the school, while Jessica went from the front.
"Christina…why are you here?"
"I’m not going home just yet. My mom knows I’ll be gone for awhile…We need to talk."
They went t the park right down the street from Fujiwara. Tiki had showed up three too; Christina guessed that he had been told by the Time Guardian to meet there. Tiki nodded, and Christina began. "Jessica, sit down." Jessica looked at Christina, then sat after she had. "I gotta tell you something."
"What is it, and why is that cat here?"
"I know this is shocking, but I can talk." Tiki looked gravely serious. "That’s only the first thing, too."
Jessica seemed to take it well. Christina spoke now, "I’m…Well, a Sailor Scout. Sailor Unity. My friend, Lisa, is Sailor Galaxy. You’re…Sailor Destiny."
"What?"
Tiki used his magic leap and a black heart locket dropped onto Jessica’s lap. "For transforming," he told her.
Christina continued, "You say your phrase, just not now though- Destiny Karma Power. Only you can use it. We need you tonight. We’ve got a date with this nasty guy, Ledite, and we can’t beat him alone."
Jessica was looking at the locket. "What are my limits?"
Tiki quieted Christina. "Jessica, once you transform tonight, your life will change…permanently. You’re a princess of the past that’s why you’re a Scout. You have powers of Shadow- Princess Destiny was known in the Moon Kingdom for her powerful dark magic that was used for good. Anyway, after tonight you’re obligated to fight…against the Negaverse and for the Earth and people. The Sailor Scouts’ mission is to protect the Earth from the darkness that came here 1000 years ago."
"Tonight…8:00…but be there early, there’s no telling what’ll happen. Please…Jessica."
Jessica gave Christina an ‘I’m not so sure…’ look. "I’ll think about it."
They left the park and went home, Jessica thinking hard about her decision. Christina went to Lisa’s house (they had discussed this before hand) to talk and await the showdown.
